The Technology Partnerships Division
creates strategic collaborations with industry, academia and
government agencies and manages the Ames intellectual property
portfolio to enable innovative technology development for NASA
missions and U.S. public benefit.
Outreach and Dissemination
Our office publicizes technologies
that are available for collaborative partnerships and
commercialization.
Our office serves as a conduit to Ames researchers and
potential external partners in industry, academia, and other
federal agencies.
Patents and Licensing
In accordance with the Ames Patent Counsel
Office, we prepare patent applications and other patent-related
documents, such as Space Act, license, and nondisclosure
agreements. We determine the patent potential of new NASA Ames
technologies and oversee intellectual property issues.
Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
Extra efforts to
involve smaller businesses are made under the SBIR program. This
program offers grants to small businesses to meet federal R&D
needs. A similar program, the Small Business Technology Transfer
(STTR) program, involves teams of small businesses and research
institutions conducting joint research.
